Summary of Role:

The A&D Business Line Director – Business Development and Battleground Owner is a staff member of the A&D End Market and reports directly to the A&D Business Line Sr Director. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a fast-growing team that has extensive interactions and interdependencies within GlobalFoundries’ cross-functions and with A&D industry and government stakeholders and customers. The A&D Business Line Director is responsible for understanding the A&D market and defining and owning strategy and execution on high-value strategic business areas (battlegrounds). This role defines battleground annual business plans, market segment requirements, and leads the definition, refinement, and evaluation of business cases within the defined battlegrounds. The A&D Business Line Director works closely with A&D sales and capture managers on opportunity discovery through closure and gives clear guidance on relevant opportunity profiles. The A&D Business Line Director pursues and maintains senior level contacts within the defense industrial base and government agencies and uses their influence to generate strategic opportunities for the A&D sales and capture teams. The person in this role must be skilled at working on extremely complex problems where analysis of situations requires an evaluation of intangible factors, exercising judgment in areas outside of broadly defined practices and policies in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

Essential Responsibilities :

  • Plans, directs and is accountable for all activities and results of Develop End Market Strategy and Long-Range Plan for owned battlegrounds
  • Understand and define market segment requirements
  • Provide Strategic Guidance to Sales & Capture on valid opportunity profiles
  • Establish Strategic A&D Messaging
  • Drive High Level Customer Engagements – lead generation
  • Develop, Refines, and Validate Business Cases in lock-step with phase/gate capture process
  • Perform P&L Management of assigned Battlegrounds
  • Provide inputs to Quarterly Business Reporting
  • Act as Business Development counterpart to Capture Manager - work with capture team to advance opportunities both inside GF and with outside customers and stakeholders – builds capture strategy with capture manager
  • Develops and/or manage positive ongoing relationships between the organization and customers in strategic markets by cultivating relationships with key individuals at government agencies/target customers.
    • Govt and defense research and development (e.g. NSF, ONR, NIST, AFRL, DARPA)
    • Federal Agencies e.g. (Navy, AF / Space Force, Army, MDA)
  • Develops and maintains competitive intelligence and competitive landscape understanding to inform business development and capture efforts Develop, maintain and leverage existing relationships with key customers, decision makers, and acquisition officials
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify opportunities for business or program expansion
  • Work with program management, marketing, sales, and technology groups to propose solutions and implement business development strategy into specific initiatives
  • Uses business software applications (e.g., word processing, presentation, spreadsheet, functional function systems) to prepare correspondence, reports, presentations, agendas, minutes, data entry, etc.
  • Establishes organizational procedures and plans, consistent with corporate policy. Interprets, executes, and recommends modifications to corporate policy.
  • Provides leadership, direction and strategy development and makes final administrative or operational decisions within level of authority or, as applicable, recommends course of action on matters affecting the organization managed.
  • Work is performed without appreciable direction and is reviewed from a quarterly or project basis.
  • Perform all activities in a safe ad responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements, and programs

Relationship Focus

  • Responsible for developing and driving implementation of plans in support of strategic direction.
  • Ensures that overall budget and performance standards are accurately and realistically set and attained.
  • Recommends organization structure for area managed and develops performance standards for area managed, and recommendations for areas not managed to ensure delivery on responsibilities.
  • Establishes standards and procedures for their areas managed.
  • Interacts regularly with executives and equivalent level managers across functions and regions concerning matters of significance to the company.

Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or Finance or Management degree.
  • Functional expertise, broad company knowledge and additional Aerospace and Defense industry and business knowledge.
  • Years of Experience: At least 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Travel Requirements: Up to 40% Travel (as needed)
  • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., Or a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a) (3),"
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a SECRET level U.S. Government security clearance and cannot possess dual citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Years of Experience: 15+ years of relevant experience
  • Skilled in Microsoft office 365 including collaborative cloud tools and sharing services
  • Ability to work independently to meet and exceed objectives
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with internal and external stakeholders
  • Must be able to communicate with all levels of the organization and clients
  • Experience with Phase/Gate Business Development processes
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams

Expected Salary Range

$129,000.00 - $244,000.00

The exact Salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience and location.
